In the Aftermath

It has been awhile since I have updated this journal, but life has literally been crazy. School has started back, but is currently on hold as life after Hurricane Ivan is trying to be rebuilt. I really didn't expect the damage to be so great and so widespread, but it was. I have not returned to Pensacola yet after the storm, but have seen pictures and heard stories about just how bad it is over there. You can't help but ask questions like "why would this happen to us?" or "why did so many people die or lose all they had?" But in the midst of that questioning spirit, God gently whispers to my soul. He tells me that everything does happen for a reason, even when it doesn't seem like it. He also tells me that he is in control. He says "trust me." And although I cannot relate to all those people who lost everything or lost a loved one, God can. Whatever our circumstances, we must trust him and rely on him and run to him with all of our hurt, pain, and lonliness. He's there for us and will give us a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Now school is postponed at least until Oct. 4 (that makes 3 weeks off), which means there will be a lot of work to make up. Not to mention that I am scheduled to take the GRE on Oct. 9 at UWF testing center. I don't know if that is going to happen or not. I know that it will all work out in the end. No need to worry. I'm just glad everyone is ok.
P.S. Thanks to whoever left a comment about my poem. It means a lot to me that someone else is able to enjoy my poem and relate to it.
